For the past three years, we have been working on lightweight blades for the airborne wind turbine industry.
All our efforts have been concentrated on the achievement of three core objectives :
– reducing weight
– reducing cost
– improving resistance
After numerous attempts, we finally ended up with a unique fabrication process that combines a low weight, a short production lead time and a high resistance.
Our blades are made of layers of low density foam and a thin resin coating for smooth surface finishing.
The core of the blade is a carbon fiber backbone that enhances its rigidity.
In this video, you can have a brief overview on how we control the quality of our blades. All parameters are tested on a large wind speed range : from 0 to 100 km/h.
Those blades are mounted on Kiwee One, our backpack airborne wind turbine.
